(GENERAL / HONOURS)

THREE YEARS DEGREE COURSE

The Bachelor of Arts (General/Honours) shall cover a period of three academic years and shall be known in the first year of study as the B.A. (General/Honours) Part-1 in the second year of the study as the B.A. (General/Honours) Part-11 course, and third year of the study B.A. (General/Honours) Part-Ill.

 

QUALIFICATION FOR ADMISSION:

      1. A student may be admitted to the course of instructions for the Degree of Bachelor of Arts (General/Honours) if he has passed the Intermediate Examination successfully from a recognised Board/University.
      2. For admission to Honours course in any subject it shall be necessary tor a student to have obtained not less than 45% marks at the Intermediate Examination in the subjects concerned. A student passing Intermediate Examination of Science and Commerce is eligible for admission to Honours course in any subject if he has passed I. Sc. /1. Com. Examination securing not less than 45% marks in aggregate.

 

SUBJECTS FOR B.A. (GENERAL)

A candidate for B.A. (General) Course shaft be required of offer three optional Subjects, comprising of nine papers and one/two languages as composition, comprising two papers and one paper for Env. & Ethics. In all there shall be 12 papers divided into 4 papers for each part of the course, according to the following structure :-

A candidate for B.A. (General) Course shall choose any three of the following Optional Subjects:—

      1. Any one of the following Language & Literature subjects :— Sanskrit.    Hindi,    Bengali.    Oriya,    Urdu & English.
      2. History
      3. Political Science
      4. Economics
      5. Philosophy
      6. Psychology
      7. Geography
      8. Home Science (for women only)
      9. Mathematics

Note : No candidate shall choose Mathematics or Geography unless he has passed Intermediate Examination in the subject concerned.

COMPOSITION: A candidate shall choose either (a) or (b) for composition

(a)      Hindi          —       One full paper of 100 marks for each of the Part-I

                                     and Part-I I course.

(b)      Hindi          —       50 marks (any one of the following in Languages

                                     can be offered) —     Bengali. Oriya, Urdu, Alt. English.

 

SUBJECTS FOR B.A. (HONS.)COURSE :

A Candidate for the B. A. (Hons.) Course shall be required to offer Honours in one subject comprising of 8 (eight) papers, two subsidiary subjects comprising 4 (four) papers, one or two Languages as Composition comprising 2 (two) papers and one paper as Env. & Ethics. In all there shall be 15 (fifteen) papers divided into 5 (five) papers for each part of the course as per structure given below :-

Note : If a candidate choose any one subject of the Language & Literature subjects as the honours subject then he can choose not more than one other Language & Literature subject as subsidiary subject.

A candidate shall choose either (a) or (b) for composition.

(a)      Hindi                  —        One full paper of 100 marks for each of the Part-1 and Part-ll Examination.

(b)      Hindi                  —        50 marks => for each of the Part-I and Part-ll.

          Mother Tongue    —        50 marks => Examination.

Any one of the following Languages can be offered :—Bengali. Oriya.   Urdu, Alt. English.

A candidate shall not choose Mathematics or Geography unless he has passed Intermediate Exam, in Mathematics or Geography respectively.
